Residents offered green job opportunities with LSBU website launch

London Southbank University has launched the LSBU Green Skills Hub, offering net zero training and green job opportunities to residents of Lewisham.

Lewisham residents now have access to a wide range of green job opportunities, net zero training and business support, as London Southbank University (LSBU) have launched a new Green Skills Hub for residents of Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark.

Funded by the Greater London Authority in collaboration with the Mayors Academies Programme, the LSBU Green Skills Hub aims to address unemployment resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Designed to reach residents from various backgrounds, including women, low-income groups earning below the living wage, BAME residents, 16–25-year-olds, disabled individuals, lone parents, and carers, the LSBU Green Skills Hub serves as a central platform for accessing these opportunities.

Aligned with Lewisham’s goal of being net carbon by 2030, LSBU’s efforts provide local job listings with companies actively contributing to a sustainable future and comprehensive training courses covering fields such as retrofit and sustainable town planning.

Councillor Louise Krupski, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Action said:

“We're excited about this initiative being available to our communities. Recognising the concerns of Lewisham residents regarding their environmental impact, it's reassuring to see LSBU stepping up to provide additional opportunities and training. This initiative empowers individuals to take meaningful action and contribute to positive change.”
