Trinity preparation courses for private-hire drivers and British citizenship

Secure English Language Test (SELT) exams are taken by people who need to show their English language proficiency in order to get a visa to work, study or settle in the UK, or for citizenship.

We are a listed SELT preparation course provider, and offer:

English language exams for visa or settlement purposes

Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) Grades 2, 3 and 5 exams are approved for UK visa or settlement purposes. We offer preparation courses for Grade 5 only.

Grade 2: Further leave to remain (A1)

For further leave to remain you must pass Trinity's GESE grade two English language exam (CEFRA A1):

  • six-minute speaking and listening test
  • provisional results on the same day
  • certificate usually within seven days
  • speaking and listening only.

Grade 3: Further leave to remain (extension) visas (A2)

There will be a new requirement for non–EEA national partners and parents on the five-year partner or parent route to settlement. In order to qualify for further leave to remain after two and a half years in the UK, you will need to pass Trinity’s GESE Grade 3 exam (CEFR A2):

  • seven-minute speaking and listening test
  • provisional results on the same day
  • certificate usually within seven days
  • speaking and listening only.

Grade 5: Indefinite leave to remain (to settle) or British citizenship (B1)

For indefinite leave to remain (to settle) or British citizenship you need to pass Trinity’s GESE Grade 5 exam (CEFR B1):

  • 10-minute speaking and listening test
  • provisional results on the same day
  • certificate usually within seven days
  • speaking and listening only.

You also need to take a Life in the UK test as part of your citizenship application. This is not a Trinity test. Visit the Home Office website for more information about the Life in the UK test.
