The rate of council tax you pay depends on which valuation band your home is placed in. This is determined by the market value of your home as at 1 April 1991.
You can check your council tax band on the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) website.
Following the Government’s recent spending review, local authorities responsible for adult social care are now allowed to charge a 2% council tax precept to be used entirely to fund adult social care. This is in recognition of demographic changes which are leading to growing demand for adult social care, which is an increasing pressure on council budgets.
The council tax attributable to the London Borough of Lewisham now includes this adult social care precept.
