What we do

We collect information for school admissions purposes.
This information will only be shared with the schools you applied for or an alternate school if we can't offer you a preferred school.
If you apply for a school outside the borough, we will also share this data with them purely for school admissions purposes.
We may also use and share this data with other public bodies to prevent or detect fraud and other crime.

school attendance(s)
school preference(s)
parent/carer(s) name(s)

relationship to the child
specific reasons for requesting the school placement(s)
evidence of residence
evidence of parental responsibility

We may share your information with:

DWP
police
Border Agency
housing organisations
children’s social care departments
local authority admissions teams
admission authorities where the governing body is responsible for school admissions.

Purpose for processing

Under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, Lewisham Council is legally required to provide education to residents who need a school placement. As the coordinating authority, we are required to electronically share school application details with admission authorities, including those located outside the borough and any local authority that maintains them.
