Adult mental health services in Lewisham are fully integrated. Lewisham Council works in partnership with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) to provide social care through holistic community-based mental health services offering a range of interventions including assessment, recovery-focussed support and longer-term care for Lewisham residents experiencing mental health difficulties, and support for carers.

Our casework is recorded on the SLaM electronic Patient Journey System (ePJS). Statutory interventions are provided primarily under the framework of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity 2005.

In addition to our social workers within the SLaM multi-disciplinary community mental health teams Lewisham Council staff operate a Hospital Social Work Team, a Mental Health Safeguarding Team and an Approved Mental Health Professional Service based at the Ladywell Unit.
