Recycling mobile phones, batteries, ink cartridges

Batteries, mobile phone and ink cartridges are classified as hazardous waste as they contain toxic components and should be disposed of separately from ordinary waste.

Batteries

You can take batteries to the reuse and recycling centre in New Cross.

There are two Currys stores in Lewisham who have a container for used domestic batteries. Please visit the Lewisham High Street store or the New Cross branch on 263 New Cross Road.

Car batteries

These can be taken to any Halfords, the car parts and bicycle shop, for more information please visit Halfords (external website).

Mobile phones

You can post your old mobile phones to Green Source Solutions (external website) who will use them to raise money for recycling projects abroad.

Please pop into your local library to pick up one of their return envelopes. Or order one by calling 0845 310 0200.

Printer toner and inkjet cartridges

Some primary and secondary schools have a printer cartridge collection service which parents and pupils can take advantage of. Please check with your children's schools.
