Batteries, mobile phone and ink cartridges are classified as hazardous waste as they contain toxic components and should be disposed of separately from ordinary waste.
Batteries
You can dispose of batteries safely at:
Car batteries
These can be taken to any Halfords (external website), the car parts and bicycle shop.
Mobile phones
You can get up to £150 for unwanted mobile phones. Find out more on Money-saving expert (external website).
Alternatively, you can post your old mobile phones to Green Source Solutions (external website) who will use them to raise money for UK and overseas charities.

Printer toner and inkjet cartridges
Some primary and secondary schools have a printer cartridge collection service, which parents and pupils can take advantage of. Please check with your children's schools.
