Appeal against parking penalties

Appeal against parking penalties

If you feel that the parking ticket was issued incorrectly, you can appeal against it.

Please note: your appeal will not be considered if you have already paid the penalty charge.

Or appeal in writing

Please give us:

  • the penalty charge notice number
  • your vehicle registration number
  • your full name and address.

We cannot make decisions over the telephone, but you can call the Parking appeals if you need more information.

What happens next

Once we have considered your appeal we will send you our response. If we accept your appeal, you do not need to pay the fine.

If we reject your appeal, you can:

  • take your appeal to an independent adjudicator. We will tell you how to do this in our letter.
  • or pay the fine. The payment due will be the full payment rate, because the 14 day discount period will have elapsed. Pay your fine now

Appealing to the independent adjudicator

You can only appeal to the parking adjudicator after your appeal to us has been made and rejected. The decision of the adjudicator is legal and binding on both us and the person making the appeal.

The Environment and Traffic Adjudicators (ETA) at London Tribunals arranges all dates and times of hearings, and will advise you of the date and time of your hearing.

If the Appeal Service upholds your appeal, you do not need to pay the fine. If the adjudicator refuses your appeal you have 28 days from the date of the adjudicator’s letter to pay the outstanding amount.

If the Penalty Charge Notice is not paid within 28 days, we will increase the fine by a further 50%.
