Careers in social work

Our social workers are committed, professional people who want to make a difference to the lives of the people of Lewisham.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our recruitment and selection procedures for all staff are designed to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults by ensuring that only suitable appointments are made.

If you are newly qualified, you'll find us progressive and supportive, keen to help you develop your confidence and expertise.

If you are experienced, you'll find we are committed to your professional development within jobs that are challenging and filled with variety.

In order to practice as a social worker, you must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (CPC). Your registration must be regularly updated and the HCPC will contact you before it expires. It is your responsibility to ensure that your registration is maintained in order to continue working legally as a social worker. When a DBS re-check is carried out, the HCPC register will also be checked.
