Addey and Stanhope School admissions criteria

PLEASE NOTE
This policy has been changed by the school adjudicator.

Addey and Stanhope is a comprehensive school whose intake is broadly balanced in gender and reflects the whole ability range according to Lewisham’s banding system. The admission number for the school is 120:

  1. Students in public care (looked-after children).
  2. Applicants with a brother or sister on roll of Addey and Stanhope School at the closing date for applications and whose sibling is expected to be on the roll of the school at the intended date of admission. The adjudicator amended this policy on 19 September 2008 and siblings on the roll of Crossways Academy at the closing date for applications and who are expected to be on the roll of Crossways Academy at the intended date of admission no longer qualify as siblings.
  3. Applicants who live nearest to the school; all distances are measured in a straight line from the home to the main school gate, using Ordnance Survey maps of the area and/or digitised mapping software. These criteria will be applied in order until the available places within each band of ability are offered and taken up.

These criteria will be applied in order until the available places within each band of ability are offered and taken up. Should the school be over-subscribed after applying the first two criteria, children living nearest to the school as measured in a straight line will have priority.

Any applicant who is not offered a place at Addey and Stanhope will be placed on the register of interest, by banding and in order of home to school distance and considered for a place at the school if a vacancy arises.

Home address

In determining where a child lives, we cannot accept the address of grandparents, other relatives or childminders, unless the parents themselves actually live at the same address. Proof of residence may be requested before the definite offer of a place will be confirmed.

Siblings

A sibling is defined as a full or half-brother or sister, or a foster brother or sister living at the same address as the applicant.
