Nursery school places

The following nurseries are run by local community organisations - with financial assistance from Lewisham Council - or by charities, to provide a service to local children and families.

(You can find details of other local nurseries in the Children and young people's directory - follow the link on the right).

Most of these nurseries are open for hours long enough to suit working parents or those at college. The majority of places are allocated directly by the nursery or management committee. To put your child's name on the waiting list please contact the Head of Centre at the nursery, who will also be able to give you further details about their admissions policies and charges. You should apply for a place when your child is two.

Many centres also provide, or act as a venue for, other services including parent and toddler groups, drop-in crèches, toy libraries, and after-school clubs.

A limited number of places at these nurseries are funded directly by the Early Years Service. These are allocated to children with health or developmental needs at regular admissions panel meetings attended by local social work and health visiting teams, from whom further details can be obtained.
