For people whose safety may be at risk if their details appeared on the electoral register, it is now possible to vote anonymously.
Anonymous registration is designed to help people escaping from domestic violence or for whose people who’s occupation means they must keep their identity private. It is not intended to be used as an ex-directory scheme.
In order to apply for anonymous registration you must:
- Be eligible to vote in UK elections
and
- Provide evidence to support your application, such as: a court order; valid injunction for your protection; have your application supported by a qualified person such as a Chief Police Officer, Chief Constable, Director General of the Services or the Serious Organised Crime Agency or a Director of Adult Social Services/Children Services; or, a copy of a court order or attestation for someone at risk and proof that you live in the same household as that person.
An application lasts 1 year and we will write to you 3 months before your registration is due to expire. In order to register as an anonymous elector you will need to contact the electoral services team using the details below.
