Lewisham Council - Renewing your older person's Freedom Pass

Renewing your older person's Freedom Pass

If you have an older person's Freedom Pass which is due to expire on 31 March 2016 find out how you can renew your pass.

Once you have received your renewal letter in January 2016 with your unique renewal number please try to complete the process as soon as possible to guarantee your pass arrives before your current one expires.

If you have a Disability Freedom Pass we will try to confirm your ongoing entitlement by using council information. If we do not have this, we will send you a renewal form to complete and return.

Renew your Freedom Pass online

Renewing your pass is easy and to save time and reduce costs, London Councils would like as many people as possible to renew their passes using their online system which is quick and easy to use.

However, if you do not have access to the internet at home then we would recommend you speak to a friend or relative who does to see if they can help you.

Renewing your Freedom Pass at a library

All council-run libraries have free computer facilities with free access to the internet. You can visit any of the following libraries with your renewal letter and renew your pass there.

I don’t know how to use the internet but I want to learn. How do I start?

The libraries listed above offer free introductory Learn My Way IT courses which provide practical skills for people less familiar with the internet.

Renew your Freedom Pass by post

If you wish you can still renew your Freedom Pass by post by completing the form on the reverse of your renewal letter.

What do I need to know?

Does everyone with an older person’s Freedom Pass have to renew their pass?

No. Only people whose passes expire on 31 March 2016 will get a renewal letter. In future renewals will be rolling by expiry year.

My friend has received their renewal letter but I am still waiting for mine. Why haven’t I got mine?

If you know a friend or relative who has received their renewal letter but you haven’t yet received yours, don’t panic – renewal letters will be posted out in January 2016. If you have not received your renewal letter by 31 January call 0300 330 1433.

What should I do with the old pass when I get my new one?

As soon as you have your new pass it is ready to use, so please don’t wait until the old one expires. Once you are using your new pass, please destroy the old one as it will no longer be valid.

I have moved home since my last Freedom Pass was sent to me. Will I get a renewal letter?

If you have moved house and have not told London Councils your new address, you should contact them now on 0300 330 1433 between 8am and 8pm, on any day of the week, to ensure you receive your renewal details and can continue enjoying free travel.

Can I renew my Freedom Pass at the Post Office or by calling you?

No. The Post Office will not renew your pass or update your details. If you have any queries about the renewal of your Freedom Pass contact London Councils on 0300 330 1433 between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Sunday or visit the Freedom Pass website.
