Lewisham Council - Creating more primary places

Providing more primary school places

Like many other London boroughs, increasing birth rates and the rise in the number of children under five has led to an unprecedented demand for primary school places.

We work closely with schools to create extra classes so that there is a place for every child who needs one. We’ve done this by expanding a number of our primary schools, through a mix of temporary classes and permanent expansion.

The demand for extra places will continue to be high over the coming years. We constantly review this and work with school governing bodies to help ensure there are extra places where they are most needed.

Below is a list of primary schools where extra (bulge) classes have been created for September 2017.
