Lewisham Council - Adult education fees

Adult education fees

Courses at Adult Learning Lewisham (ALL) are subsidised by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). This means that the government pays most of the cost of your course, and your fees cover the rest of the cost.

Adult education fees for 2017–18

Our fees remain at the same hourly rates as last year:

  • Some courses have no fees (e.g. qualification courses in English or maths), however you must meet the eligibility criteria below in order to enrol.
  • Many courses offer a concessionary fee. The rate is £2.50 per hour for people who are eligible.
  • For learners who aren't eligible for a concession, the fee rate is £5.00 per hour.

Studio classes

We also offer studio classes, which give you access to our high quality equipment and studios. At these sessions, you are free to spend more time developing expertise in your subject with the support of experienced tutors. The fee for studio classes is £6.50 per hour.

Cost of materials

Some courses require additional materials and these are highlighted as a materials fee when you enrol.

Payment methods

Payments can be made by credit card, debit card and cash. There will be a 1.9% surcharge for credit card payments.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the £5 or £2.50 hourly fees or for free courses, you will normally need to have been a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) for three years or more.

If you have not been a resident of the EEA for at least three you, but your UK residency status entitles you to funded education, you will need to bring evidence (e.g. from the Home Office) when you enrol. Contact us for more information about what evidence is acceptable.

If you are not eligible for this funding you may still be able to enrol at the non-EEA resident rate, which is £6.50 per hour.
