Lewisham Council - PLACE Deptford

We're hoping to create a pop-up village in Deptford, modelled on the award-winning PLACE/Ladywell scheme.

This project is currently in the planning stages and we're hoping for a decision by late summer 2018.

What would be on the site?

The scheme could provide:

  • temporary accommodation for up to 34 homeless families
  • community space on the ground floor.

Following consultation with the local community we're investigating if part of the ground floor could be used to provide a new community nursery.

Using offsite construction methods, the building can be assembled on site and deconstructed and moved at a later date if it is no longer needed in the area.

Where will it be?

The building will be where Deptford Green School's ball court used to be.

PLACE/Ladywell is an award-winning housing scheme for 24 homeless families, affordable work space for small businesses and a community café.

It has won Best Housing Initiative at the 2017 LGC Awards, ‘Best Temporary Scheme’ at the 2016 New London Awards and Mayors Prize at the 2016 New London Awards.
