Trees in Beckenham Place Park

Information about trees in Beckenham Place Park

Trees have been planted as isolated specimens or small groups over much of the park's grasslands. These include magnificent mature pedunculate oaks, many of which have been pollarded. Some of these pre-date the landscaping of the park, and may be survivors from the woodland which once covered the whole area. Old oaks such as these are a scarce, important and declining resource.

Other mature trees found scattered through the golf course include Turkey oak, ash, and sweet chestnut, while mature lime, horse-chestnut and London plane form avenues along some of the major paths and at the edges of the park.
