​​​​​​​New Cross Assembly fund 2018–19

The assembly fund is now open. Local groups working towards our priorities, you can apply for up to £2,000.

Funding criteria

Your proposal should reflect one or more of our priorities.

Current priorities

  • unemployment and skills development
  • activities for older people and tackling social isolation
  • housing developments and the built environment
  • health, wellbeing and community safety.

How to apply

  • Download and complete the application form and send it to sarah.lang@lewisham.gov.uk.
  • The deadline for applications is Monday 15 October 2018 at 12 noon.
  • If you have any questions, email Sarah Lang or call her on 020 8314 6306.

How are projects selected for funding?

The coordinating group will meet after the closing date to discuss all the applications and decide the following:

  • Does the application meet one or more of the priorities?
  • Is it value money and are the costs reasonable?
  • Is there a need for this project?
  • Is the project delivered in an established partnership?

If your application is successful you will be invited to take part in a market place at a New Cross Assembly event on Tuesday 6 October, where residents can vote on which projects get the funding. ​​​​​​​​​

Examples of previously funded projects

  • A film making project for young people promoting health.
  • Studio recording sessions for young people at Riverside.
  • Events as part of the Evelyn 200 Project.
  • Activities, information & support sessions at 2,000 Community Action Centre.
  • Music activities & entertainment for older people’s lunch club.

Learn to Play Traditional Chinese Music: Guzheng 1-1 Course - Goldsmiths Confucius Institute

Guzheng is a traditional Chinese stringed instrument plucked with plectra attached to four fingers of one or both hands with tape. This flexible 1-1 course fits arounds your schedule. Students will have the opportunity to learn to play Chinese songs.

An exhibition reimagining and recreating Windrush passenger landing cards, to represent those destroyed by the Home Office in 2010.
