Adult education fees for 2016–17

Adult Learning Lewisham, in common with many government funded services, continues to experience funding cuts. Despite this we have held our prices for learners at the same rate for the past three years.

Unfortunately, in order to protect the huge variety of courses we offer and our ability to give extra concessionary rates to many of our learners, we are increasing the hourly charge for the 2016/17 programme.

  • Courses that have no fee (e.g. qualification courses in English, Maths) should remain free of charge for people who are eligible.
  • The price for learners paying the higher fee rate will go up from £4.50 to £5.00 per hour. This means that a term-long 20 hour course will increase by £10.
  • For learners paying a concessionary fee the rate will go up from £2.25 to £2.50 per hour. This means that a term-long 20 hour course will increase by £5.
  • For learners attending studio classes the rate will go up from £6.00 per hour to £6.50.

Even with this increase, Adult Learning Lewisham remains one of the cheaper providers of courses in London and represents good value for money particularly in terms of the specialist subjects we continue to offer.

We do understand that a price increase is never good news but hope that you will also understand that we are doing what we can to ensure the future of Adult Learning Lewisham and the subjects you enjoy studying.
