Cabinet

The Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock, chooses councillors to form his Cabinet, which helps the Mayor make key decisions. Cabinet members have responsibility for specific issues.

Economic development, neighbourhood renewal, planning policy, housing supply, transport and emergency planning.​
Cabinet Member for Children and Young People ​​
Schools, special educational needs, child protection, children’s health and family support services, early years, children’s centres, youth services, further and higher education links. ​
Cabinet Member for Community Safety​ ​
Youth offending, drugs, CCTV, warden schemes and partnership with the police. ​
Cabinet Member for Community Services ​ ​
Councillor Chris Best
Adult social care and health, adult education, libraries, arts and entertainment, sports development and leisure services, community development (ie local assemblies).
Cabinet Member for Customer Services​ ​
Environment and environmental health, waste management, housing management and homelessness, revenues and benefits, parks and nature conservation, animal welfare, cemeteries and crematoria, trading standards, building control and licensing, registration of births, deaths and marriages. ​
Cabinet Member for Older People ​​
Councillor Peggy Fitzsimmons
Intergenerational links and the Council for Positive Ageing.
Cabinet Member for Resources ​ ​
Councillor Paul Maslin
Council finances, property and asset strategy, sustainable energy, human resources, internal audit, procurement and efficiency.
Cabinet Member for Strategy and Communications
Councillor Damien Egan
Internal and external communications, policy monitoring, non-financial performance monitoring. ​
Cabinet Member for the Third Sector​ ​
Councillor Joan Millbank
Liaison with non-statutory partners, faith groups, the voluntary and community sector, and social enterprise.​
