School crossing patrols ensure that travel to and from school for local children is as safe as possible.
FAQs
How does the Council decide where to place a school crossing patrol?
School crossing patrols are provided where a risk assessment and traffic survey has been undertaken. This is not necessarily directly outside a school but could be anywhere on a direct route to a school.
Can I request a school crossing patrol?
If you want to make a request for a school crossing patrol please contact us. Tell us where you would like a school crossing patrol to be available and why. A full traffic survey will be carried out and if the site meets the criteria, the site will be included on the priority list for the introduction of a school crossing patrol.
I'm interested in becoming a school crossing patroller - What do I do?
We are always interested in recruiting people to become school crossing patrols and reserve patrols. The retirement age is 70 years old.
