The Road Safety Team advises on in-car safety for children, and can provide with you details on where to get your child's car seat checked.
Children in cars – the law
Children up to 135cms (around 4ft 5ins) must use the appropriate child restraint for their weight such as a car seat or booster cushion.
If you fail to ensure that your children are using the correct car seat for their weight, height and age, you are putting their lives at risk. See the Good Egg guide to in-car safety website (follow the link on the right) for a guide to child car seats.
If you don’t comply with the law, you can receive a £30 fixed penalty or a fine of up to £500 if the case goes to court.
