Transport Operational Command Unit

The Metropolitan Police has a Transport Operational Command Unit, which works closely with Transport for London (TfL). They deal with crime on buses and bus routes, including red-route enforcement.

They also tackle illegal taxi-touts and assist in the control of traffic congestion. Find out more by following the links on the right to the TfL and Metropolitan Police websites.

Operation BusTag

Operation BusTag is a Closed Circuit Television investigation unit. It was set up in November 2004 by the Transport Operational Command Unit to tackle criminal damage being committed on London's buses, and bring those that cause criminal damage to justice.

In its first two years, the unit tripled the arrest rate for offences such as graffiti, window etching, seat and window damage and arson.
