If you live, work or study in the borough, we can offer you a free two-hour cycle lesson, delivered by a fully qualified cycling instructors. You will receive a one-to-one training tailored to your specific needs, plus advice on safety and bicycle maintenance.

I just had to drop you a line to say what an excellent cycle teacher Louise is. Within minutes she had me signalling left and right in a straight line, where I was previously rather wobbly!
I'd strongly advise all new cyclists to spend an hour or two with an instructor - if they think they’re good to start with, then they’ll be even safer after the tuition!

Group rides
If you already cycle, you can join group rides which run throughout the year. You'll increase your confidence on the road and discover local cycle paths and routes. All instructors are qualified cycle instructors and friendly. Booking details as above.
Low cost cycle maintenance courses
On the basic course you learn how to keep a bike in good working order. The intermediate course focuses on more complex tasks such as wheel truing and re-greasing bearings. If you live or work in Lewisham, these one-day courses cost only £10 (unsubsidised courses cost £60).

Cycle training for school children
Our Road Safety Team also provide stage one and two cycle training in Lewisham schools. Your child will need their own bike for this training.
Normally, stage one and two cyclist training can be carried out during year six at primary school (age 10-11 and above). Stage one must be carried out before stage two. More information on training stages.
