Saving young lives

The Police, Council and other agencies are working together to protect the public from violent crime and to prevent our young people being drawn into violence. Our approach involves preventiondiversion, and enforcement strands.

What can you do to help?

Community support is key to reducing violence amongst young people. There are two main ways in which you can help:

  • If you are a parent, or someone who cares for young people, talk to them. Talking to young people about their fears, the risk associated with carrying knives and the choices they have, can help prevent them getting caught up in serious crime.
  • Report where guns or knives are being kept and who is involved in crime. If you have any information about crime in your neighbourhood please contact the police or Crimestoppers. Crimestoppers is an independent charity working to stop crime.
