Lewisham's Safer Stronger Communities Select Committee is undertaking a review of Safer Neighbourhood Police Teams in Lewisham.
The committee recently surveyed resident's views on Safer Neighbourhood Teams, via this website. We'll report on the results of the survey here soon.
Safer Neighbourhood Teams were introduced in April 2006 to provide a visible, accessible and familiar police presence to engage with local residents and partnership organisations to find solutions to local problems.
They are additional to Lewisham's other police units and are on-hand to work solely in the community at a ward level to increase community safety.
Each Safer Neighbourhood Team is to have a ward panel. Ward panels are intended to ensure the widest possible representation of Lewisham's diverse communities and assist in identifying and addressing local priorities.
