The borough plays host to a huge number of events each year. The Council’s events team offer support and advice to anyone interested in putting on events in the borough.
On this page we guide you to information on venues, funding and marketing, and provide advice on licensing, health and safety and policing.
Venues for your event
Funding your event
Make sure your ideas are imaginative and that your event is fulfilling a need.
Licensing
If your event involves any sort of public entertainment, marquees, stages or temporary structures and/or the sale of alcohol you are likely to need a licence. More about licensing in Lewisham.
Informing the police
Whether your event is big or small, we recommend you inform the police, who work in partnership with Lewisham Council to advise event organisers. Contact the Event Planning Unit at Lewisham Police Station, Lewisham High Street, SE13 or email John.D'Arcy@met.pnn.police.uk.
Health and safety planning
Organisers need to undertake appropriate planning for the size and scale of their event. To ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice, we recommend that organisers base their event plans on The Event Safety Guide (external website ).
