Lily Senner, aged 11, was announced as the winner of Lewisham Council’s ‘Safer Ride’ poster competition at an awards ceremony.
Lily’s winning design will be used in a campaign early next year to encourage young people to start cycling and to remain safe while riding their bikes.
Lily, from Ashmead Primary School, was also presented with a new bike from Cllr Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor of Lewisham, and Chris Compton from Comptons Cycle who donated the bike.
Cllr Alexander, who was also one of the judges, said: “It is clear Lily has worked hard creating such an eye catching and effective poster.
“Lily has designed a poster which highlights two really important messages: the need to cycle safely and the need to think about the environmental benefits of using your bike.”
Over 300 posters were submitted from school children around Lewisham borough.
