French market celebrations

A two day celebration of French cuisine is set to tickle residents’ taste buds from 6 - 7 July to gear up for the Tour de France arriving in the borough.

The celebrations will transform Lewisham market into a continental delight of food and wine two days before cyclists hit the streets of Deptford.

There will be over 30 stalls selling the very best of French food including some delicious cheeses, pates, pastries, fresh bread and wine.

Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor of Lewisham, said: “This event will be a great way to get us in the mood for the Tour de France. It will also be the perfect opportunity to try out some quality French produce and an excuse to stock up the kitchen cupboards!”

The Tour de France begins on Friday 6 July and will pass through Deptford on Sunday 8 July.

The market celebrations will run from 9am to 5pm on both days.
