Party in Grove Park

Everyone in the borough is being invited to kick back and enjoy the summer sunshine at a garden party in Grove Park.

The Grove Park library garden party will be taking place from 11am - 3pm on Friday July 7.

Cllr Chris Best, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: 'The Grove Park garden party is a great chance to meet up with new people, enjoy the sunshine and find out more about council services.'

There will be loads of information on healthy living for people of all ages as well as free taster sessions from the local health club, Bannantynes.

The party will also offer an opportunity to find out about the exciting new Downham Lifestyles development, and even have your say on the building's new name.

Those looking to expand their minds over the coming months will get everything they need from representatives of the Downham Training Project, who'll have information on the wealth of courses they'll be running from September.

Greenfingered guests can find out more about planning gardens, with particular emphasis on gardening for disabled and housebound people.

Lunch will be provided, but anyone who is feeling particularly peckish can head for the tea and cake stalls being run by the ladies of the St. Augustine Church.

Tunes will be provided by The Music Men, Alistair and Andy, who will be performing an experimental 45 minute set blending sound and physical performance.

Renowned local wordsmith, Richard Neville, will entrance revellers with intriguing tales from his life and times, whilst collecting 'experiences' for future performances.
