Park keepers will be the focus of the latest stage of Lewisham Council’s “Visibly safer” campaign. The campaign aims to reassure residents that front line Council services are keeping people safe.
The latest phase of the campaign features a borough wide campaign featuring a park warden casting a maternally watchful eye over a family playing in the park. Information on park wardens will also be featuring in council publications.
Steve Bullock said – “Our park keepers have a key role to play in keeping parks safe. But feedback from the public has shown that they are often just not aware that we still have park keepers in Lewisham parks. Reassuring people that there is someone keeping an eye on things is key to getting more people to enjoy our fabulous parks.”
Jan Cavey, the park keeper who appears on the latest poster, said “I’m delighted to have been chosen to appear on the poster, but this is really recognition of what all my colleagues do. We all work closely with the police and council to keep Lewisham parks clean and safe.”
Lewisham has seven parks with green flag status, more than any other London borough.
The visibly safer campaign was launched in February by Steve Bullock, the Mayor of Lewisham, and Assistant Commissioner Godwin of the Met Police. Previous posters featured the Council’s street wardens service.
