Lewisham Council, in partnership with Lewisham Sports Council and Volunteer Centre Lewisham, has launched a scheme providing criminal records bureau (CRB) checks free of charge to Lewisham sports clubs.
Until now sports clubs using volunteers were responsible for the processing and payment of their volunteers' CRB checks, which is often a lengthy process.
Under the new scheme Lewisham Council will be relieving sports clubs of this time-consuming process and paying for CRB checks as part of its commitment to further improve the quality of the services provided by sports clubs across the borough.
