Approval of London and Quadrant Housing Trust as the preferred partner to work with residents on the transfer of over 1,700 homes was given by the Mayor on 4 March 2009.
Council residents in Forest Hill, Perry Vale and Sydenham have selected London and Quadrant as their preferred partner to transfer ownership of their homes, to help deliver the Decent Homes standard.
Lewisham Council, residents and London and Quadrant will now work together on a final Offer Document for the transfer of 1,111 tenanted and 592 leasehold homes. The homes are a combination of properties on the Sydenham Hill and London Road estates and street properties.
London and Quadrant have pledged to invest £38 million over the first five years following transfer to them.
Councillor Susan Wise, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, said: “The selection of London and Quadrant Housing Trust is an important first step.
“Lewisham Council is committed to ensuring residents have a strong say in how their homes are improved and managed. Residents will now be working with London and Quadrant to develop an Offer Document which will set out proposed investment in homes in these areas.”
Caroline Boguzas, London and Quadrant’s Assistant Director of Economic Regeneration and Stock Transfer for South East London, said: “This is an excellent result for London and Quadrant and has been a great team effort all round. We look forward to working with the residents and Lewisham Council to ensure we meet the needs of the community and continue London and Quadrant’s mission of creating places where people want to live.”
Residents have been involved with selecting their preferred Registered Social Landlord (RSL) and chose London and Quadrant after looking at bids from a number of RSLs. They chose London and Quadrant because of their strong bid and track record in the area for delivering the decent homes programme and resident involvement.
It is anticipated that the transfer will take place in May 2010.
