Mayor and Cabinet digest: 15 April 2009

Here are some of the key decisions taken by Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham, at the meeting of the Mayor and Cabinet on 15 April 2009.

Ofsted Inspection of Lewisham Fostering Service

The Mayor noted the overall rating received from the Ofsted inspection carried out in November 2008 and endorsed the comprehensive improvement plan being progressed by officers, which addresses the recommendations from the inspection.

Lewisham Fostering Service received an overall rating of ‘Good’ with the and category of ‘Helping Children to make a Positive Contribution’ achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating.

Nursery and school admission arrangements and school admission limits for 2010-2011

The nursery, primary, secondary and sixth form admission arrangements for Lewisham’s community schools were approved, as were the admission limits for 2010-2011 for 69 primary schools in the borough.

Comprehensive Equalities Scheme (CES) Non-Statutory Action Plans for age, sexual orientation and religion / belief

The Council’s non-statutory action plans for age, sexual orientation and religion/belief, which will act as an umbrella document for equality schemes and actions regarding these issues, was agreed.

Lee stock transfer

The Mayor agreed the timetable for the completion of the Lee stock transfer and the key terms of transfer for negotiation with Bromleigh Housing Association.

Lewisham Housing Strategy

The Mayor agreed the Council’s new housing strategy and referred it to Full Council for consideration. It is hoped the Housing Strategy will be launched in June 2009.

Lewisham Homes Delivery Plan for 2009-12 was also agreed.
