Lewisham Council has launched a new online directory which gives details of services and activities for children and young people in the borough.
The Family Information Service (FIS) provides confidential and impartial information on all aspects of childcare for families with children aged between 0-19 years.
Parents, young people and professionals can now access this service online and through a freephone helpline.
The launch of the online directory comes just ahead of the first ever National Family Week which takes place from 25-31 May 2009 and celebrates family life.
The FIS replaces Lewisham’s Children Information Service. It has expanded to provide not only information on childcare, but also support groups, health services, youth clubs and a wide range of other services.
These include:
- behaviour management
- benefits and tax credits for families
- children’s centres
- children with special / additional needs or disabilities
- finding childcare
- healthcare services
- holiday play schemes
- leisure activities
- parenting support
- positive activities and youth clubs for young people
- returning to work after becoming a parent
- schools.
