Greener Home guide

Lewisham Council has produced a Greener Home guide, to help residents think ‘green’.

The guide gives handy tips, advice and information about how to lead a greener lifestyle.

For information about stopping junk mail, how to be an organic gardener, home insulation, or for tips on how to shop more ‘greenly’, the guide can help.

Councillor Susan Wise, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, said: “Even the smallest actions to save energy and reduce waste can make a difference."

“Residents can access a wealth of information about how to make their lives greener - from saving money in your home, to food and shopping ideas, the guide gives information and simple steps to leading a greener lifestyle.”

Tips include:

  • Energy efficiency – easy ways to use less money and save money
  • Cutting back on waste – tips to reduce household waste
  • Recycling – tips on recycling just about everything
  • Saving water – how to use less water and pollute less too
  • Food and shopping – greener ways to shop
    Gardening and wildlife – from allotments to wildlife
  • Home improvements – ideas for making your home ‘green’
  • Travel tips – how to travel with fewer CO2 emissions.

The Greener Home guide is available to view or download on the Lewisham Council website. Go to the homepage – www.lewisham.gov.uk - and click on the link to access the Greener Homes guide. Hard copies are also available by calling 020 8314 7234.
