Lewisham Mayor Sir Steve Bullock has proudly handed over a cheque for £10,000 to the Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care. The money has been collected through numerous fundraising events organised by Lewisham Council over the past year.
Handing over the cheque to the Lavender Trust’s James Fletcher, Sir Steve said: “I’m very grateful once again for the generosity of Lewisham residents in supporting this worthy cause. It’s really quite amazing how much has been collected over the last 12 months.”
Over the last eight years the Council has raised a total of £100,000 for the Lavender Trust.
The Lavender Trust provides support to younger women with breast cancer and is the chosen charity of the Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock.
The next fundraising event takes place in April 2010 when a number of residents and Lewisham Council officers will be taking part in the London Marathon.
