Your library 24 hours a day

Lewisham’s 24/7 virtual library takes a great leap forward this month with the launch of the exciting new ebooks and audio ebooks service.

From 22 February 2010, readers can visit the Virtual Library. Once they log in, they can borrow ebooks and audio ebooks for up to two weeks. These files can be saved to personal devices such as MP3 players, eReaders and iPhones. When the loan time finishes, the files will automatically delete themselves.

The site has full instructions for use, and a handy ‘quick start’ guide. Readers will need a library card and a home broadband connection. Councillor Chris Best, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “This new ebooks service takes Lewisham Libraries into the 21st century. It’s a great contribution in our delivery of a top quality service to residents”.

Provided in partnership with Bexley and Bromley libraries, this gives Lewisham residents access to a wide range of ebooks and audio ebooks - from the latest Dan Brown blockbuster to a variety of easy to follow 'how to' books.

This additional service complements Lewisham online reference collection of 15 brilliant resources to use at home, at work, in the library or on the go - wherever and whenever suits you.

All you need is a library card to do your homework with Britannica Online, read 63 UK newspapers and magazines with NewsUK, check out your ancestors with Ancestry, or do the crossword with Credo Reference.
