Moonshot

hot topic logoThe Moonshot centre has its origins in the early 80’s when local people successfully lobbied for a building that would provide a base for the African Caribbean communities of New Cross.

The project’s establishment in the wake of the New Cross fire gave the building a special significance, and when the Moonshot was forced to close in 1999 it was always anticipated that the original aspirations for the project would be sustained as part of a new vision for the building.

Lewisham Council as a Consortium partner is determined that the local community not only have access to the services that will be provided at the new Moonshot, but also have use of spaces within the building for their own activities.

The centre now encompasses:

  • dance
  • community activities
  • drama and art
  • childcare.
