A leading Lewisham Sports facility has been refurbished to help local athletes prepare for the 2012 Olympics.
The Ladywell Arena has received Quest accreditation after a £48,000 refurbishment funded by Lewisham Council and its partner Parkwood Leisure.
Councillor Chris Best, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: 'The Ladywell Arena refurbishment is an example of how Lewisham Council and its partners are providing the facilities our athletes need to be successful at the 2012 Olympics.'
Athletes currently preparing for the London 2012 Olympics are training at the venue alongside members of the Kent Athletics Club and the South East London Wheel Chair Racing Club.
Quest Accreditation is recognition of the high standard of the arena's facilities and the quality of the services available at the venue.
The Arena's refurbishment included extensive track repairs, a thorough re-spray, relining of track, repairs to high jump facilities and a comprehensive high power wash of the outfield.
The running track can now be used for county competitions and is fully accessible for people with disabilities.
The refurbishment took place from mid May this year and was completed on 16 June.
