Lewisham Youth Service provides and supports a range of educational services and social activities for children and young people aged between nine and 25 years of age.
Through a variety of youth clubs, centres, specialist projects, and adventure playgrounds, many run in partnership with local voluntary organisations, we offer children and young people the chance to meet people of their own age in safe surroundings, to learn new skills, to plan and run activities for themselves, to take part in arts, drama, computing, music, sports and social activities' and simply to relax and have fun.
Our centres and projects are open to all young people. We also support projects for young people with educational needs and disabilities, and have specific projects aimed at girls and young women; many of our youth clubs and projects provide after-school activities, help with homework and school work, as well as supplementary schools and heritage classes.
We also provide confidential information, advice and support on a range of personal issues, such as training, education, employment, housing, legal matters, drugs education and health, including sexual health; we are actively involved with delivering the Connexions service for young people (13 - 19) living, or going to school or colleges in Lewisham.
We are keen to ensure that young people's voices are heard and we encourage them to shape their own future through enrolment on schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Youth Achievement Award, and the Keystone Awards, young people aged 11 years and above can try creative, exciting, and worthwhile opportunities, and gain recognition for their achievements.
We also provide a wide range and variety of school holiday schemes, along with outdoor activities, expeditions, visits and trips away from home.
