The sport and leisure service is responsible for leisure centres and developing accessible sport and physical activity opportunities for all Lewisham residents regardless of their ability. The service is delivered in partnership with a variety of partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors. The leisure centres are managed on behalf of Lewisham Council by Parkwood Leisure and Leisure Connection.
The physical activity sport and leisure strategy for Lewisham has been developed which aims to:
- enhance lifestyles by widening opportunities for participation in physical activity, sport and leisure
- enable the Lewisham community to develop its potential in sport and leisure
- encourage physical activity, sport and leisure through developing and sustaining an appropriate structure of facilities and services.

Free swimming
It is free to swim in the following pools all summer if you are under 16: the Bridge Leisure Centre; Downham Health and Leisure Centre and Ladywell Leisure Centre.
Everyday swim
The Everyday swim scheme was launched in Lewisham on Friday 14 September at the Bridge Leisure Centre and aims to get more people swimming with a total of 8 pilot schemes running throughout the country.
