Lewisham Council has established a number of 'green space' user or friends groups to actively involve the local community in the daily life of the park or open space.
There are currently 18 parks user groups established for the following parks:
- Beckenham Place Park Friends
- Brookmill Park/St John's
- Blythe Hill Fields
- Broadway Fields
- Chinbrook Meadows
- Downham Woodland Walk
- Eckington Gardens
- Forster Memorial Park
- Hilly Fields
- Ladywell Fields
- Luxmore Gardens
- Manor House Gardens
- Manor Park
- Mayow Park
- Mountsfield Park
- Northbrook Park
- Sydenham Wells Park
- Telegraph Hill Park.
and two more formal Council Working Parties:
- Blackheath
- Beckenham Place Park.
Role of the user/friends group
The group will provide support to the parks contractor in the day-to-day management of the park. The support will extend to the following areas:
- litter clearance days
- reporting defects
- organising events within and associated with the park
- development of specialist area (e.g. conservation)
- promotion of the park
- liaison with the contractor staff.
Membership to the group is open to any individual.
