This collection contains letters from Henry Payne (1858–1927), artist of Catford, Kent, to Grant Reid.
Harry Payne was a prolific military artist. His painting of the Royal Horse Guards (The Blues and Royals) crossing Horse Guards Parade, painted in 1901 sold at Bonhams Bond Street in 2007 for over £50,000. He also painted several series' of Oilette postcards for Raphael Tuck.
