Biography
Connell, an Irish Socialist and author, was the Secretary of the Workmen's Legal Friendly Society.
He wrote the Labour anthem The Red Flag in 1889, on a train between Charing Cross and New Cross.
In 'Who's Who' he gave his hobby as poaching.
