Reading and books

Adult reading groups in Lewisham

Reading groups are an informal opportunity for over 16s to share reading experiences. We host reading groups at each of our nine branches.

More about our reading groups on the Lewisham book blog.

Chatterbooks - the book club for children

All children are welcome to join our book club for games, quizzes, art, and chatter about your favourite books.

Reader surveys

Thank you to everyone who took part in the previous online polls. The winners were as follows:

  • The funniest book ever: Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
  • The best children's book ever: The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.
  • The favourite beach read survey didn't produce an outright winner, but rather a number of books by the same author, Barbara Pym, who has written titles such as A Glass of Blessings and An Academic Question.
  • Charles Dickens was chosen as favourite winter author for his wintry novels of bleak Victorian London.

Watch out for future online polls.
