Lewisham local history and archives centre

Home of the borough's archives and local history collections. The centre holds local history and archives material for the London Borough of Lewisham (Deptford, Lee and Lewisham) which is available for personal callers to refer to.

 Monday  10am - 5pm
 Tuesday  9am - 8pm
 Wednesday   closed
 Thursday  9am - 8pm
 Friday  9am - 5pm
 Saturday  9am - 5pm*
 Sunday  closed

* occasional limited service 12noon - 2pm on Saturdays

The collections contain archives, books, pamphlets, maps, street directories, local newspapers (print and microfilm), prints, paintings, photographs and census returns.

Expert staff are on hand to assist with local history enquiries and to advise upon research techniques, other agencies and electronic resources which may also be helpful. One terminal with internet access.

Freely open to the general public: no library card required. Access to archive material may require advance booking and it is advisable to book microfilm readers to ensure availability.
