Baby Bounce and Rhyme

Bring your baby along to Lewisham Library on Thursdays and join in the fun of Baby Bounce and Rhyme. Our celebrated entertainers dance and sing favourite children's songs such as 'Lazy Lucy' and 'The Wheels on the Bus' to the delight of their young audience. As a result of phenomenal popular demand there is now an afternoon session too.

Thursdays 11:15am - 11:45am and 2:15pm - 2:45pm

Chatterbooks! The book club for children

All children are welcome to join our new book club for games, quizzes, art, and chatter about your favourite books. 

Lewisham Library
First Wednesday of every month
4-5pm Children's library

Also, Downham library holds a Chatterbooks reading groups on the first Tuesday of the month for 5-7 year olds and on the second Tuesday for 8-11 year olds from 3.30-4.30pm.

Free admission - children under 8 must be acompanied by an adult.

Adult reading groups in Lewisham

Reading groups are an informal opportunity for over 16s to share reading experiences. We host reading groups at each of our nine branches. You can see a list of upcoming dates and times here, or you can drop into the library for details of when to come along – new members are always welcome.

Downham Library Film Club

Do you love film? If so come along to our weekly film club and watch a wide range of films, from cult classics to westerns and action films.

Wednesdays from 6:00pm, Sunday matinees from 1:00pm

A Tapestry of Tales

The Tapestry of Tales mural is currently on display in Lewisham Library. A Tapestry of Tales was commissioned by Urban Renaissance in Lewisham and produced by Simon Purins and Maire Quinn for Age Exchange. It is a work based on the memories of Lewisham elders and represents the life experience of people living in Lewisham over the course of a century of change.
