Eliza Hanson [24 June 1802 – 18 June 1820] dies, she was the wife of Edward Hanson and daughter of John Pennock of Kingston, Jamaica. There was a memorial to Eliza at St Mary’s church, Lewisham.

John Charnock [c. 1756 – 16 may 1807] dies. He was the only son of John Charnock of Barbados and sometimes barrister of the Inner Temple. There was a memorial to John at St Margaret’s church, Lee.

Ercey Barrett [c.1792 – 8 December 1807] dies. She was the daughter of G.B. Barrett of Jamaica. There was a memorial to Ercey at St Mary's church, Lewisham.

The Royal Navy's West African Squadron is established to suppress the illegal trading in slaves by British citizens. Between 1810 and 1865, nearly 150,000 people are freed by the anti-slavery squadron.
