Competition - Dante's Inferno

Lewisham Film Initiative is pleased to be collaborating with one of London’s foremost production companies on an exciting and truly unique project for charity.

L’ocean productions, based in Deptford, are currently engaged in producing a multi-media work - 'Inferno' - an adaptation of Dante’s masterpiece for The Corin Redgrave Threshold Fund, a charity which seeks to assist drama students launch a career.

Ensuring the project’s high profile, Corin Redgrave, Laurie Anderson, Robin ‘Scanner’ Rimbaud and the god of hellfire himself, Arthur Brown, are all committed. INFERNO has been adapted into 44 passages by Roger Elsgood, the spoken text will be directed by William Richards and the soundscape will be created by Robin Rimbaud.

Inferno will exist in several interlinked media:
  • an international touring stage production
  • a for-purchase audio download via the Audioville portal (www.audioville.com)
  • a for-purchase DVD

The films will be used as the visual component in Scanner’s live touring production of Inferno and subsequently on the DVD. Lewisham Film Initiative is managing the application and development process.


The competition deadline has now passed. L'Ocean shall be reviewing applications and informing the successful filmmakers in the next couple of weeks.

A half-day meeting of all potential filmmakers will be held in London in early December when we will discuss in detail the way in which the project will work.
