The Lewisham Black Staff Forum (BSF) is a group of black Council staff delivering services for and on behalf of black employees.
We:
- deliver a programme of events: an annual training programme, an annual conference to coincide with Black History Month, regular meetings with well-known guest speakers
- provide personal support services where black staff can talk to someone confidentially
- organise a reading group and book club which meets monthly with plans to form a writers co-operative
- work with Council departments to challenge inequalities and acting as a vehicle for change.
- The BSF also plays an active role in the community on boards of community organisations and raising funds for charities and good causes.
BSF has a track record of achievement and innovation and receives regular approaches from local authorities and other public sector organisations to learn from the work it does.
